Missing the point

Articles such as this irritate me. Aren't they missing the larger point? Is everything then about how much more money one can place in ones' pocket in the short term?

I know "economy" is one reason that hybrid vehicles are popular but immediate, in your wallet savings are not the whole story and reporters like this really do the public a disservice.
